The Sword In The Stone
The text you will be reading is an excerpt from The Legends of King Arthur and his Knights by Sir James Knowles. In this collection of tales the reader is able to find out the exposition of King Arthur. The section that our class will be looking at is chapter II of the text. In this chapter we will find out about The Miracle of the Sword and Stone, the Coronation of King Arthur, The Sword Excalilur, and The War with the Eleven King.
After reading the texts above we will be comparing them to Disney's interpretation of The Sword in the Stone. How is the Disney version different from the original text? What liberties do the creators of the film take with the presentation of the movie?
Now what do you think, is Arthur fact or fiction? Many people have been asked that question. It is actually a question that people are looking into today. What would it be like if he was actually a real person. I do not mean the magic and all, but what if there truly was a king that fought the invaders. I would like for you to watch the documentary below.

Examine the image above. Why is it depicted with so much pomp and ceremony? Would Arthur really have had this many people watching him pull a sword out of a stone?
Look at this modern interpretation of King Arthur. This series is from the view point of Merlin. How could the tale being told in a different perspective change the way a reader or viewer comprehends a story?
